About The Chamber

The Maroubra & Districts Chamber of Commerce is one of the oldest Chambers in Australia. Over the years we have made some outstanding contributions to the local business community. We have a continuing (and so far successful) campaign opposing Randwick Council’s attempts to saturate the area with parking meters. We have monthly “gatherings” for local business networking.

The Chamber is a group of business people from Maroubra (including Maroubra Junction, Maroubra Beach, the South Maroubra Shopping Village, Duffy’s Corner, Lurline Bay and Malabar Road), and adjoining districts, together with representatives of local community groups (especially the Rotary Club of Maroubra). We hold “gatherings” (less formal than “meetings) on a bi-monthly basis except December and January.

We encourage you to come along to a gathering to see the benefits of being a Maroubra Chamber member first hand. At these gatherings, people meet to discuss ways to improve, promote and support our businesses and community. It is an opportunity to talk with other business owners and get to know where they are situated and what they do and what their business offers in a relaxed non-pressure environment. We usually have a set topic, and often a guest speaker. Our topics include council, state & federal government issues, local transport and environmental issues, concerns about local security, juvenile crime, graffiti and the general image of Maroubra.

We liaise directly with the State Chamber of Commerce and meet quarterly with Randwick City Combined Chambers of Commerce, senior staff and aldermen of Randwick City Council. We communicate with the Police, local Precinct Committees and also non government organisations, to say informed and up-to-date.

Many members are “go getters” and if they can help, they will go out of their way to do so. We encourage you to promote your businesses at the gatherings and swap business cards and flyers.

The Chamber also organises the annual Maroubra Fun Run (see www.MaroubraFunRun.com.au) and a Buy Local campaign (www.BuyMaroubra.com.au).

Our logo ‘building a better Maroubra’ is very close to our heart.
